Joanne Van Doorn

/biography

/bio

Van Doorn knew at a young age that she wanted to be an artist. She took any opportunity she could, to get the type of training she would need for a career in the arts. In her early years of art education, she was lucky enough to have renowned artist and gallery owner, Bill Anderson, as her teacher. He inspired her to pursue the arts, though at the time she did not know what direction she would take.

In college she was introduced to graphic design and after receiving a Bachelor of arts degree in 1985, she began her professional life as a graphic artist and worked in the advertising industry for 15 years. Though she was successful in the graphics field, she had a desire to teach. Joanne went back to school to obtain her teaching credential and has been teaching graphic design and fine arts for over 18 years. Van Doorn is dedicated to building a positive relationship with students and to promote an environment where creativity, productivity and professionalism coexist.

Though Van Doorn likes to dabble in the fine arts, the computer is truly her choice of medium. With her experience and skill in artistic software, she combines her knowledge of design, color and illustration to  create digital arts in a variety of methods and styles. Her latest works have earned her awards at FAA's Spring and Fall membership exhibits held at the Fallbrook Arts Center. Van Doorn continues to reinvent herself as an artist.

Joanne resides in Fallbrook, California with her husband John. She has 2 adult children, Janelle and Heather. She is currently in the midst of getting her Masters degree in Graphics Information Technology. Her interests are concerts, plays, the outdoors and traveling. Family and friends are an important part of her life and help to shape who she is as an artist.
